Sahiwal: Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail chaired a review meeting to review the performance of the Municipal Corporation. Directed to repair the machinery available for the patchwork of city roads, the corporation should do the patchwork itself instead of the contractor, and the maps of houses of all additional populations of the city should also be approved and regularized. A special meeting was held at the Commissioner’s Office on the performance and scope of the Municipal Corporation, which was chaired by Commissioner Sahiwal/Administrator Corporation Dr. Asif Tufail. The meeting was also attended by Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed, Director Information Appeal Ashfaq Masood Madani. Chief Officer Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed, while giving a detailed briefing, said that there are 13 illegal housing societies within the limits of the corporation where up to 80 percent of the houses have been constructed, however, due to lack of regularity, the maps of the houses constructed there are not being approved, on which Commissioner Dr. Asif Tawal directed that these colonies should be declared as additional settlements and the residents should be provided with the facility to get the maps approved. He also directed to repair of the patchwork machinery available in the corporation and to do the patchwork of the roads themselves so that more roads can be repaired with fewer resources. It was informed in the meeting that there are 5359 street light connections in the corporation city, out of which 4317 street lights are functional, while 1042 are non-functional, on which the corporation is spending Rs 78.1 million annually.
