Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Epidemics break out in flood-affected areas, 2,506 cases of cholera reported in 11 districts, including Buner

Peshawar: According to a report issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, epidemics have broken out in the districts affected by the recent floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the released documents, 2,506 cases of cholera have been reported in 11 districts, including Buner district, including 116 patients with hemorrhagic cholera, of which 1,112 patients were treated.

The documents state that the highest number of cholera patients were reported in Lower Dir with 823, while Swat had 591, Buner 319 and Bajaur 262 cases of cholera.

Similarly, 226 cholera patients were reported in Dera Par, 154 in Battagram and 168 in Shangla, while 3 in Abbottabad, 39 in Mansehra, 18 in Swabi and 13 in Torghar were treated.
According to the document, 80 malaria cases were reported in Shangla district, 16 in Lower Dir, 14 in Swat, 11 in Torghar and 2 in Dera Par.
Similarly, dengue cases have also been reported in the affected districts, according to which 8 dengue patients were reported in Swabi, 6 in Lower Dir and one in Bajaur, 172 in Torghar, 125 in Lower Dir, 117 in Buner, 128 in Shangla and 83 in Battagram.
According to the document, 4 patients with skin diseases were reported in Bajaur and one patient in Lower Dir.
Apart from this, colds, flu and respiratory diseases also started spreading in the flood-affected areas, according to which a total of 2,245 patients were reported in the 9 affected districts, out of which 1,413 patients were provided treatment facilities. On the other hand, the Health Secretary says that there has also been an increase in psychological diseases in the affected districts, while snake and dog bite vaccines have also been sent to the flood-affected areas.
