Governor’s oath taken on 25 special seats was unconstitutional, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar: Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati has said that the oath taken by the Governor on 25 special seats was unconstitutional. Tomorrow, the oath will be taken again under the Constitution and law.

While talking to the media, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati said that it is the Speaker’s responsibility to take the oath from the members of the assembly. I never said that I would not take the oath.

He said that the previous session was adjourned due to lack of quorum, the oath taken by the Governor on 25 special seats was unconstitutional, tomorrow, the oath will be taken again under the constitution and law.

The Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly said that he had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan regarding the illegal oath-taking of the Governor.

He said that all institutions worked together to repair the damage caused by the rains. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur visited all the affected areas as a vanguard.

On July 20, 2025, 25 elected members of the assembly on reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took oath in a ceremony held at the Governor House, Peshawar. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi administered the oath to the elected members on reserved seats for women and minorities.
