Peshawar: Another uproar has erupted in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. Most of the inspectors selected for the advanced course turned out to be juniors, while many seniors were left out of the list. The alleged abuse of senior officers in the Central Police Office has spread a wave of anxiety in the entire department.
According to sources, ASIs promoted in 2007 and 2008 have been ignored, and juniors promoted in 2009 and 2010. This move is being termed as “manipulation” and “promotion for sale” within the police. The ministerial staff is accused of making decisions based on personal interests and preferences, disregarding merit and seniority.
Officers say that this non-transparent process has not only disappointed the honest and hardworking personnel of the department but is also affecting the overall performance of the police. According to inside sources, the changes made in the list and the dubious selection are raising many questions.
In view of the growing unrest in the police department, it is being suggested that the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa himself should call for all the lists in the presence of honest and impartial officers and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter so that the facts can come to light and the distrust spread in the department can be eliminated.
According to police officials, “It is time to restore merit and ensure transparency, otherwise the internal problems of the department will increase further.”
