Quetta: Political parties have announced a wheel jam and shutter down strike across the province on September 8 against the suicide attack on Saryab Road in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, on September 2.

The political parties announced this while holding a joint press conference in Quetta. The press conference was attended by Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ain Pakistan chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Balochistan National Party’s Sardar Akhtar Mengal, National Party’s Central Secretary General Kabir Muhammad, Awami National Party’s provincial president Asghar Khan Achakzai, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial president Dawood Shah Kakar and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Allama Wilayat Hussain Jafri.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the suicide attack near Shahwani Stadium is tantamount to the murder of humanity, as it is stated in the Holy Quran that the murder of an innocent person is the murder of the entire humanity. He raised the question of what crime we have committed that our children are being targeted? He stressed that holding a rally is a constitutional right, and they will continue to raise slogans in favor of democracy even after being stabbed.

He said that Balochistan is an integral part of Pakistan, but the first right of local people to the resources should be recognized. He announced that train and ship services will be suspended on September 8 during the peaceful protest to send a message to the world that we own this country and its roads.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal said that this explosion is a conspiracy to suppress the political struggle, but he will not be afraid. He criticized the government’s failure and said that if there was information about the threat, why was the rally not allowed in the hockey ground? He lamented to the media that he sees the theft of wheelchairs from the civil hospital, but does not see the loss of human lives. He appealed to traders, transporters and other sectors to make the September 8 protest a success.

Kabir Muhammad of the National Party said that there are no real representatives of the people in the current assemblies, and the coast and resources of Balochistan are being handed over to the federation. The tragedy of September 2, which occurred on the anniversary of Sardar Attaullah Mengal, is a sad hour for the entire province.

He stressed that the martyrs are not only of the BNP, but of the entire Balochistan, and the struggle for true democracy will continue. He requested businessmen, landlords, lawyers and political workers to participate fully in the protest.

Asghar Khan Achakzai of the ANP said that the resources of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have become a scourge for them. He alleged that the policies made in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are destroying the livelihoods of the Baloch and Pashtun nations. PTI’s Dawar Shah Kakar said that September 2 created a new history of oppression, and the Form 47 government has no status.

He demanded that the cabinet, including Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, should resign. Allama Wilayat Hussain Jafri said that the oppressor never remains, and nothing can be achieved by the force of a gun. He said that those who carry out 100 funerals in a day will not back down from their goal.

At the end of the press conference, Fateha was offered eternal peace as a martyr.
