Karachi: Sindh Police Court and Government Face Heavy Pressure: Order to Remove Non-Graduate SHOs Ignored

IGP Sindh Orders Blown Up, Implementation of Issued Notification Is Near Impossible, Police Sources Reveal to Dawn TV

Staff Reporter, Daily Dawn, Dawn TV Report

Karachi: Despite the orders issued by IGP Sindh on the court’s orders, undergraduate SHOs posted in most police stations of Karachi have not been removed from their posts yet.

According to internal sources in the police department, the notification issued on Thursday is not impossible to implement.

According to the records of the police department, SHOs are posted in many police stations of the city who were recruited as constables in the past. Most of them have an educational background limited to middle school or intermediate.

In the previous era, recruitment of constables was done based on a middle pass and ASI based on an intermediate pass, after which these officials were promoted to the posts of inspector and DSP.

The IG Sindh had issued clear instructions in light of the orders of the Supreme Court that the minimum educational qualification for an SHO should be graduation.

Along with this, it was also ordered to immediately remove officials with criminal records or a bad reputation from the post of SHO.
