Jalalpur Peerwala: The situation has become critical due to extremely high levels of flooding in the Chenab and Sutlej rivers in the city of Jalalpur Peerwala, Punjab. Several settlements were submerged due to the break of the temporary dam near Khan Bela, while crops standing on thousands of acres were destroyed. An emergency has been imposed in the area due to the continuously rising water level.
Rescue teams have intensified efforts to evacuate citizens, and after announcements from mosques, people are leaving their homes and moving to safer places. People in many villages have been forced to take shelter on the roofs of their houses. Authorities have issued instructions to citizens to immediately evacuate the area, while it has been reported that the floodwaters will reach Multan today.
Homes in Head Muhammad Wala and adjacent areas are also at serious risk. The water has reached the limit of other protective embankments, raising fears that more settlements will be affected.
