London: England created history in ODI cricket by defeating South Africa by the biggest margin.
In the third and final match played at The Oval, England defeated South Africa by a huge margin of 342 runs. This is the biggest victory in the history of ODI cricket.
England bundled out the Proteas for just 72 runs in pursuit of a target of 415 runs. Previously, the record for the biggest victory was held by India, who defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs in 2023.
This is also England’s biggest win in ODI history, surpassing the 242-run win against Australia in 2018.
In England’s innings, Jacob Bethell scored a brilliant 110 off 82 balls, while Joe Root played a classic innings of 100 off 96 balls. Opener Jamie Smith scored 62 and captain Jos Buttler scored an aggressive 62 off just 32 balls.
