Peshawar: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Anti-Corruption, Mosaddiq Abbasi, has said that the Commonwealth report has rated the transparency and credibility of the elections as zero.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, regarding the Commonwealth report on general elections 2024 and information on electoral irregularities, Mosaddiq Abbasi said that the Commonwealth report has made it clear that systematic measures were taken to violate basic human rights in the elections, restrict political freedom and keep the PTI out of the electoral process.
The report also said that measures such as keeping Imran Khan out of the election race through punishments, banning fundraising and rallies, closing offices, restricting the media and manipulating the results were against electoral transparency.
Mosaddiq Abbasi added that according to the report, forms 45 and 47 were tampered with in the election results, different forms were issued at many places and decisions were made to target only one party.
He added that the Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received complaints from constituencies 79 and 82 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the misconduct of election staff, on which 10 presiding officers were called, out of which two female officers appeared and declared their signatures to be forged.
He said that two officers admitted in their statements that there was misconduct in the election, and according to them, the crime has been proven; however, the authority to impose punishment is yet to be determined.
