Quetta: Reports of the killing of the Assistant Commissioner, who was kidnapped from Ziarat district of Balochistan a month and a half ago, have been received
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has confirmed the killing of Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal in an official statement. One of his statements said that ‘Martyred Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal sacrificed his life while performing his duty.’
The body of Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal Baqi, who was kidnapped from the tourist destination of Ziarat in Balochistan, was found in Harnai on Sunday.
Risaldar of Levies Headquarters Ziarat Muhammad Imran Dumar said that on August 10, Muhammad Afzal and his son were abducted by unknown persons from the Zahzari area of Ziarat.
The banned separatist organization Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
Imran Dumar said that today, on information about the discovery of a body in the Zardal area of Harnai, the Levies Force reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital, where he was identified as Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal Baqi and his 25-30-year-old son, Mustansar Bilal, were kidnapped on August 10, 2025, when they were having a picnic with their family in the Zizari area, about 20 kilometers from Ziarat. Armed men attacked and took them hostage along with their driver and guards. Later, the driver and guards were released, while the father and son were taken to the mountains on foot. The kidnappers had also set fire to their official vehicle.
The Balochistan government had announced a reward of Rs 50 million for information about the kidnappers.
