Rawalpindi: Imran Khan was presented via WhatsApp link in the hearing of the May 9 GHQ attack case in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), but due to the voice and image of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) not being clearly visible, the lawyers boycotted the proceedings.

During the hearing of the May 9 GHQ attack case in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court, Imran Khan was presented to the court via a WhatsApp link.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court heard two applications of Imran Khan related to the May 9 GHQ attack case.

During the hearing, the founder of PTI’s lawyers, Faisal Malik and Salman Akram Raja, appeared in the court.

During the hearing, the lawyers sought permission to speak to the founder of PTI, to which the court allowed the lawyers to speak to Imran Khan, but as his voice dropped and his appearance was not clear, the lawyers boycotted the proceedings again. Salman Akram Raja and lawyer Faisal Malik left the court.

Earlier, during the hearing held on September 19, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court had dismissed the application against the decision to present Imran Khan through a video link in the GHQ attack case, on which his lawyers boycotted the court proceedings.

At the previous hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Faisal Malik had said that the founder of PTI wants a fair trial, and this is possible only when the accused is present in court in person.

The court rejected the application regarding the appearance of Imran Khan in his personal capacity, saying that he can appear in court as per the notification of the Punjab government.
