Repeated non-appearance despite summons is tantamount to obstruction in court proceedings; the court rejects the request for exemption from attendance

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court has issued an order to arrest Aleema Khan and produce her.
In connection with the November 26 D-Chowk protest case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of the founding chairman PTI, Imran Khan.
It should be noted that Aleema Khan was to be indicted today in the Sadiqabad Police Station protest case; however, Aleema Khan did not appear in court, on which the court rejected the request for exemption from attendance and issued an arrest warrant to arrest Aleema Khan and produce her in court tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15.
The court remarked that repeated failure to appear despite a summons constitutes obstruction of judicial proceedings. The court ordered that the orders for non-bailable arrest warrants be immediately provided to the investigating officer.
Police sources said that the police team will go to Adiala Jail with the non-bailable arrest warrants. Aleema Khan is reaching Adiala Jail for the hearing of the Tosha Khana II case. After the jail hearing, Aleema Khan’s arrest or arrest warrant will be executed.
