Peshawar High Court orders Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor to administer oath to newly elected Chief Minister by 4 pm tomorrow

If the Governor has not taken the oath, then the Speaker is directed to administer the oath, the Peshawar High Court has ruled on PTI’s petition

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor to administer the oath to newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi by 4 pm tomorrow. The court has ruled that if the Governor has not taken the oath, then the Speaker is directed to administer the oath.

The Peshawar High Court has reserved its decision on the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the oath-taking of newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The Supreme Court has ordered the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to administer the oath to the newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi by 4 pm tomorrow. The court has ruled that if the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has not taken the oath, then the Speaker is directed to administer the oath.

Earlier, a hearing was held in the Peshawar High Court on the petition filed for the oath-taking of the newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

After the arguments of PTI’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja and the Governor’s lawyer, Barrister Aamir Javed, were completed, the court reserved the decision.

PTI has submitted a request to the Chief Justice for the oath-taking of the newly elected Chief Minister. The Chief Justice had also heard the petition yesterday. The court had ordered the Additional Attorney General to inform the court after taking comments from the Governor.
