Sahiwal: Sahiwal Corporation officers’ support, occupation of government washroom on Church Road, monopoly of carts and mafia, instead of convenience to the public, administration silent. Demand to take notice from Commissioner Sahiwal. The occupation mafia and cart owners have set up camp on the government washroom built for citizens on Sahiwal Church Road. Due to vegetable and fruit carts being parked in front of the washroom, the public is not able to access the facility, and the washroom is almost closed. Local journalist Rana Bilal said that the government had spent millions of rupees to provide this facility for the convenience of the people, but now this occupation group has become the prey of the mafia. A local shopkeeper said, “Hundreds of people are worried every day due to the closure of the washroom, but no one is going to remove these cart owners.” Citizens say that the relevant local bodies and administration are silent spectators to the situation, which is leading to mismanagement and increasing public problems. A resident complained, “Women and the elderly are the ones who suffer the most here, but the administration does not listen.” The local people have demanded that the higher authorities immediately end the occupation and make the washroom functional so that citizens are not deprived of basic facilities.
