Commissioner Sahiwal Division, taking notice of Dawn TV’s news of garbage heaps in different places in the city, convened a meeting and gave instructions

Sahiwal: Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail has said that all resources are being utilized to provide a clean environment to the citizens and for waste management, for which the monitoring of the performance of contractors is also being tightened. Yesterday, Dawn TV UK identified garbage heaps in different places in the city, on which Commissioner Sahiwal, Dr. Asif Tufail, took strict notice and convened a meeting and directed that the old garbage heaps in Sahiwal city should also be removed on a priority basis so that the dream of a clean Sahiwal can be realized. He was addressing a meeting to review the new performance indicators of Sahiwal Waste Management Company, which was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mehmood, CEO Iftikhar Ali, ADC Finance Rana Aurangzeb, Company Secretary Javed Iqbal, General Manager Monitoring Muhammad Aftab and Senior Manager Monitoring Rizwan Ahmed Marth. He directed the company to prioritize the immediate resolution of citizens’ complaints and to collect the 805 tons of garbage generated daily in Sahiwal city at all costs. In the meeting, CEO Iftikhar Ali said that the government has decided to further tighten the system for monitoring the performance of contractors, and their performance will be assessed through 3 indicators: digital monitoring, field monitoring and complaint resolution. He said that field monitors will be appointed soon for effective monitoring of the company, which will significantly improve waste management monitoring.
