London: A program was held in the memory of Pakistan’s renowned journalist Arshad Sharif at a local hall in London. The special guests were Pakistan’s most domineering journalists Imran Riaz and Sabir Shakir.
Addressing the event, Imran Riaz said,

How likely is it that Arshad Sharif will get justice? Is it possible or not? What happened? I will tell you briefly. Everything was going on normally, we were going on as everyone else was going on, everyone was working together. Sabir Bhai, Shaheed Arshad Sharif, me, Sami Ibrahim, many and our friends. There is a track of journalism in Pakistan, we were all working on it. With our own misunderstandings, I am not ashamed to say without reason that I have made mistakes. Like everyone does, but I am proud to say that I have learned from my mistakes. I learned what the problem of my country is. The mistake was ours, from me, from Sabir the disciple, first of all from Shaheed Arshad Sharif, and from all the other characters who were affected after the regime change operation who are in journalism and they refused. We were told to follow this track, we refused. Because it was seen that this track would lead to destruction, the ruin of Pakistan. Did they ruin Pakistan? Look, look back and see what the state of Pakistan is like? Today you cannot pass through Balochistan, it has been made a no-go area

Our brothers are being killed, a new story is being written in blood, and its story begins again with the regime change operation. Because a few people decided that they would write the fate of the country with their own hands, and decide with their thick skulls. Why would we decide? In closed rooms, today the entire nation is suffering from these decisions. We had refused, we have been punished for this refusal. This man had refused, but he had great faith in the system, in the judiciary, in the system, in the law, in the constitution. I got a call from Arshad Sharif one day, they told me that we will go to the Senate, and go and raise our voice. I said, brother, who will listen? This is not their time. They lick the soles of the generals, will they listen to this? So they said that we have to keep everything on record, Imran. Everything in black and white.

I remember well that one day we were going out from the basement of the National Assembly where the vehicles leave from. That day, Sabit Shakir bhai was also with us in a Senate hearing. I said, Arshad bhai, where do you have security? He said, I don’t have security. I said, “They will misbehave. They will attack you. This man had so much trust in you. Don’t be ashamed. He told me, “They will not kill me, Imran.” He trusted him and don’t be ashamed. Look into your own pockets. He thought you wouldn’t kill him. You made life difficult for him.”

Later, Sabir Shakir spoke.

Former PTI MP Abida Raja, who was accompanied by her sister-in-law Habiba in the program, said in an interview with the most widely published newspaper from Britain and winner of the Newspaper of the Year award, Nawaz Waqt London, English newspaper Daily Dawn and Dawn TV that the mandate of the PTI was stolen, the winners were forcibly defeated. What could be more anti-national than this? You will be able to read and watch his full interview soon.

The program was attended by Ishtiaq Tony, Shoaib Alam, Mian Saeed, Mirza Akhlaq Ahmed, Muhammad Sajid Khan, Jamil Sheikh, Wasim Rehman, senior British journalist Abdul Majeed and others.

The program began with the recitation of Qazi Hasnain Mohiuddin and Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool. On this occasion, messages were read out by TV anchors Zainab Rajput, Aamir Mateen Suleman Haider, Shaheed Arshad Sharif’s widow Jawaria and Siddique Jan.

The organizer of the program, Naqeeb Raja, said that
The full participation of the public, journalists, political and social figures on the anniversary of Shaheed Arshad Sharif is proof that truth and principles can never die.

First of all, I thank our Lord, then I give special thanks to our special guests Imran Riaz and Sabir Shakir, whose presence made this occasion more meaningful.

I am deeply grateful to all the journalists in London, the political parties of Pakistan, lawyers, the business community and everyone who broke the idols of fear, kept the memory of Arshad Sharif Shaheed alive and stood up for the truth.
This gathering is not just a commemorative event, but also a renewal of the commitment to press freedom.
