London: An Afghan national has been arrested on charges of stabbing and killing a man in the western part of the UK, but police say the incident is not a terrorist incident.
The suspect is an Afghan national, while the Home Office has confirmed that the accused is a foreign national legally residing in the UK since 2022.
London Police said in a statement that emergency services treated a 49-year-old man who was stabbed in the western part of Uxbridge, but he died at the scene.
According to the statement, the 45-year-old man was seriously injured in the attack, while a 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.
Police Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall described it as an incident of ‘appalling and unprovoked violence’. Police said they were not treating the attack as a terrorist incident and were investigating whether there was any connection between the suspect and the victims. The Home Office said the suspect arrived in the UK by truck in 2020 and was granted asylum in 2022. The ministry also clarified that he was not staying in a hotel or accommodation provided by the administration, as is being falsely claimed on social media.
