Islamabad: Nominated Opposition Leader in the National Assembly of Pakistan and head of the Preservation of Constitution Movement of Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and Vice Chairman Allama Nasir Abbas have announced a nationwide movement.
In a video message, the two leaders said that the parliament is being attacked through the 27th Amendment.
Allama Nasir Abbas said that ‘Democratic institutions have been paralyzed in Pakistan. Such constitutional amendments have killed the spirit of the Constitution and given more power to the powerful. Such powerful people who rob others of their rights.
He said, ‘It is the responsibility of the people of the entire country to stand up against such a dark and dangerous constitutional amendment.’
He said that ‘Tomorrow night at 8:30 pm we will all raise the slogan that ‘I do not accept such a constitution, such a lightless morning, I do not know it.’
Mehmood Khan Achakzai said on this occasion that the constitution is a civil contract between the citizens of the country and those who govern. ‘What is being played with our constitution. We have been sworn to protect this constitution. Our own parliament is attacking the constitution.’
He said, ‘Since the parliament is the representative of the people, people reach here with the power of the people, and when no one considers them worthy of attention, we are going directly to the people now. Anyway, people were asking when the movement would start.
He said, “The way they are attacking the parliament, the way they are shaking the foundations of the constitution of Pakistan, we have no choice but to appeal to all the democratic people of the country. Our movement will start from tomorrow night.”
According to Mahmood Khan Achakzai, “This is the beginning of our movement. The second slogan will be ‘Long live democracy, long live dictatorship.’ Apart from this, the third slogan will be ‘Release the prisoners.’
It should be noted that the draft of the 27th Amendment in Pakistan has been presented in the form of a bill in the upper house of parliament, the Senate, after being approved by the cabinet.
