Sahiwal: Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail said that providing better urban facilities to the people is the administration’s first responsibility, and for this, all concerned departments should work hard and adopt effective strategies. He directed that the standard of cleanliness should be kept uniform in cities and villages, and the ongoing campaign against encroachments should be monitored daily. He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting of the Punjab government’s prescribed performance indicators in his office, in which Deputy Commissioners of the three districts, Shahid Mahmood, Asif Raza, and Ahmed Usman, as well as Additional Commissioner Coordination Saifullah Bhatti, participated. The Commissioner clarified that encroachments in the markets will not be tolerated at all, and the presence of para-force should be prominent in the markets. He further said that the cleanliness situation should be improved and made effective through field monitors. Dr. Asif Tufail directed the districts to display prominent boards outside parks and public places with the contact number of the concerned in-charge for timely information from the citizens regarding stray dogs. He also stressed the need to further improve the lane marking, patchwork, and cleanliness standards of the roads. The Commissioner also ordered that the damaged street lights in the cities should be replaced immediately so that the citizens can have a safe environment. He strictly directed the Deputy Commissioners to monitor the performance of all departments on a daily basis.
