London: The UK chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has deleted its post on the social media platform X, which included a video of provocative statements against Pakistan’s military leadership.

PTI UK has said that it does not support any kind of illegal behavior and has directed free citizens to be careful in their statements to avoid any misunderstanding.

Sources told Dawn London, Dawn TV, and Nawa-e-Waqt London that on December 23, a video was posted on the official X account of PTI UK in which protesters could be seen openly threatening the military leadership while carrying PTI flags outside the Pakistani consulate in Bradford. The post was later deleted.

In a statement on X, PTI UK said it had removed a post by a citizen criticising the military leadership.

The statement said that while we do not believe the individual incited violence, the post was removed as a precaution to avoid any possible misunderstanding and to protect the individual and their rights legally.

PTI UK alleged that Pakistanis at home and abroad were facing unprecedented oppression and called on the government to prioritise investigations into these matters.

The statement said that the prolonged and inhumane imprisonment of Imran Khan and Bushra Khan had increased public anxiety, which was also acknowledged by the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

The statement added that while this concern is understandable and legitimate at the global level, PTI does not support any illegal act. Independent citizens are also advised to balance their statements to avoid any misunderstanding.

PTI UK also said in the statement that it hopes that the citizen concerned will not face any acts of cross-border coercion and that the British government will ensure his safety, well-being, and right to a fair legal process.
