Peshawar Institute of Cardiology: 2025 is also the best and most successful year for it, leading in Pakistan

Peshawar: Peshawar Institute of Cardiology maintained its name in the list of major heart hospitals in Pakistan by performing 2,538 heart operations in the year 2025. Out of these more than 2,000 heart operations, 316 children underwent open-heart surgeries. According to PIC spokesperson Rifaat Anjum, 127,748 heart patients were examined in PIC’s OPD, including 22,563 children. During the year 2025, 19,583 patients underwent angiography and angioplasty, while 1,222 children had their heart holes closed using a device. 23,101 heart patients were brought to the hospital emergency room. According to the spokesperson, PIC under the Sehat Card, 28,115 patients were provided with free angiography, angioplasty, heart operations, and other medical treatment. PIC also introduced advanced treatment in the province, in which 37 TAV and 3 mitral clip surgeries were performed without opening the chest. Patients from other provinces and neighboring Afghanistan were also provided with the best facilities at PIC. About 1,200 Afghan patients were treated in the OPD, while more than 200 underwent angiography, angioplasty, and heart surgeries, a PIC spokesperson said.

41,976 patients benefited from state-of-the-art cardiac MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray, and general MRI at PIC, while 695,275 patients underwent various tests in the hospital’s international standard laboratory.

In the year 2025, PIC once again brought glory to the province and earned honor for Pakistan by setting a world record by performing 14 TAV surgeries in a single day.
