Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has strongly reacted to the criticism of its leadership and policies, terming it regrettable.
In a statement issued on the social media platform X, PTI referred to the press conference of the Pakistan Army’s spokesperson. The party said that it is extremely regrettable that the party, its leadership, and an elected provincial government were subjected to such criticism.
PTI took the stand that such continuous criticism not only increases political temperature but also raises questions about the balance of the state system.
The party said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the PTI is in power, it is against the ground realities to describe opposition to any military operation as support for terrorists.
The PTI recalled that on November 12, 2025, a peace jirga was held by the provincial government, where participants unanimously decided that military operations are not a sustainable solution to any problem and that a comprehensive, consensus-based, and common national policy is indispensable for lasting peace.
The party also objected to the statement that terrorists do not target the PTI.
The PTI said that this is completely contrary to the ground realities, and raising such questions will increase the grief of the martyrs, injured, and affected families.
The party said that giving the impression that the PTI has been safe from terrorism is a manifestation of ignorance of the facts and is extremely regrettable.
PTI pointed out that in the past, several state institutions had issued security threat alerts for party founder Imran Khan and other leaders on several occasions.
The party also objected to Imran Khan being repeatedly targeted and said that he was neither being allowed to meet nor being given a chance to respond to the allegations.
According to PTI, it is not appropriate to publicly criticize a political leader who is unjustly imprisoned, who is deprived of the fundamental right to defend himself, and whose voice is being deliberately suppressed.
The party further said that the images and speeches shown in the military spokesperson’s press briefing related to a province and a political party were not befitting the country’s defense institution.
PTI made it clear that it is against terrorism, believes in the supremacy of the constitution, and is ready to cooperate with all state institutions within the ambit of the law.
The party warned that bringing political differences into press conferences would further fuel instability.
PTI stressed that there should be no politics on a serious national issue like terrorism, and it is imperative to remain united rather than divide the nation on this issue.
The statement said that history is witness that despite internal political differences, PTI has always supported the state in matters of Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and national interests, and there can be no compromise on national security.
PTI further said that whenever the country faced external threats or security challenges, the party played a responsible role at every forum and demonstrated cooperation with the government.
