Temperatures in 11 cities of Pakistan range from minus 1 to minus 13, 7 motorways closed due to dense fog

Today, Sunday, the weather will be cold and dry in most parts of the country, with severe cold likely in mountainous areas

Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar: Severe cold reigns across the country. Temperatures in 13 cities have dropped to minus 13, 7 motorways have been closed due to dense fog.

Last night, data from the Meteorological Department showed that the temperature in Murree was minus 1, Bahawalpur 3, DG Khan 4, Multan 0, Chakwal 0, Faisalabad and Sargodha 4, Lahore 3, Attock 2, Rawalpindi 2, Jhelum 3, Sahiwal 5. Karachi recorded 9, Hyderabad 7, Sukkur 5, Thatta 9, Moenjodaro 3, Dadu 6, Mithi 3, and Nawabshah 5 degrees Celsius.

Chitral recorded 3, Dir recorded 5, Malam Jabba recorded 2, Saidu Sharif recorded 2, Peshawar and Bannu recorded 1, DI Khan recorded 2, and Abbottabad recorded 1. Gilgit recorded 8, Skardu recorded 13, Astor recorded 11, and Hunza recorded 8, Rawalakot recorded 4, Jammu recorded 4, Garhi Dupatta recorded 0, Muzaffarabad recorded 3, Quetta recorded 3, Gwadar recorded 12, Kalat recorded 6, Turbat recorded 11, Jiwani recorded 9, Sibi recorded 6, and Naukundi recorded 2.

Seven motorways were closed after midnight due to dense fog. According to the National Highways and Motorways Police, M-1, Peshawar to Swabi, M-2, Thokar Niaz Baig to Chakri, M-3, Faizpur to Darkhana, M-4, Pindi Bhattian to Sher Shah, M-5, Sher Shah to Rohri, M-11, Lahore to Sambrial, and M-14 Anjra to Isa Khel are closed.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country today, Sunday, with severe cold in the hilly areas. Moderate to heavy fog has been forecast in the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and fog is expected at a few places in the Potohar region and Kashmir in the morning.
