London/Riyadh: Britain’s Prince William has arrived in Riyadh on a three-day official visit, which is his first official visit to Saudi Arabia. He was received by the Deputy Emir of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, at King Khalid International Airport.
The reception was also attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan, and the British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Stephen Charles Hitchen.
According to Kensington Palace, the visit is being organized by the British government, which aims to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
Prince William will meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his stay. This meeting takes place at a time when trade and investment deals worth £ 6.4 billion ($8.7 billion) were signed as a result of the British Chancellor’s visit to Saudi Arabia last year.
During his visit, Prince William will attend various events related to Saudi Arabia’s economic reforms, cultural activities and environmental projects.
He will also meet with young Saudi citizens and review initiatives related to sustainable development, urban planning, women’s sports, e-sports and environmental protection.
Prince William has met the Saudi Crown Prince in the past. In March 2018, he hosted a dinner in London in honor of Mohammed bin Salman, accompanied by his father, the then-Prince of Wales, while Queen Elizabeth II also met separately with the Saudi Crown Prince on the same day.
During his visit, Prince William will also visit the historic city of Al-Ula, where he will inspect wildlife reserves, meet local communities and visit the Prince of Wales House, which was established to promote arts and cultural cooperation between the UK and Saudi Arabia.
