The Punjab Lok Raaj Party (PLRP) participates in large numbers in the 38th Death Anniversary ceremony of Dr. Chaudhry Ishtiaq

Karachi: The Punjab Lok Raaj Party (PLRP) participated in large numbers in the 38th Death Anniversary ceremony of Dr. Chaudhry Ishtiaq Shahidi.

On behalf of Party Chairman Engr. Ilyas Ghumman, General Secretary Engr. Ejaz Ahmad Zia, the entire Cabinet, and the Central Executive Committee, a distinguished delegation of senior leaders and workers, represented the party at this historic event.

The party delegation was led by senior leaders Advocate Anwar Hussain Qureshi, Chaudhry Abdul Sattar Arain, Malik Wasim Awan, and Qamar ul Islam, who participated on behalf of the Chairman, General Secretary, and the party’s central leadership.

Youth leaders offering prayers and homage included Waqar Arain, Junaid Gujjar, Abid Jatt, and Ghulam Shabbir Hashmi, accompanied by student activists from across Karachi and interior Sindh.

From Dawood University (DUET) , PSA representatives included President Chaudhary Taimoor, Joint Secretary Ibrahim Sulehri, Advisor to President Muhammad Zain, and Echo Chairman Ahsan Raza Arain. Students from University of Karachi (KU) , Jamia Millia College, SM Law College, and Allama Iqbal College also participated in large numbers.

The delegation offered Fateha at 1:30 PM, reciting verses from the Holy Quran and seeking eternal peace for the martyrs. Prayers were offered for:

· Dr. Chaudhry Ishtiaq Shahidi and all PSA martyrs
· Sindh Punjabi Students Association (SPSA) martyrs
· Punjabi Aabadgars who sacrificed their lives over the last 5 decades in the struggle for rights and justice in Sindh

Advocate Anwar Hussain Qureshi remarked:

“On behalf of Chairman Engr. Ilyas Ghumman, General Secretary Engr. Ejaz Ahmad Zia, and the entire party, we pay tribute to Dr. Shahidi. He was martyred because he dared to raise his voice for his people. His blood continues to inspire generations. We salute his secular and patriotic spirit.”

Qamar ul Islam added:

“Representing our party leadership, we stand here not just to remember the past, but to reclaim the future. The struggle for justice continues until truth prevails and accountability is ensured.”

Young leaders also pledged to carry forward the martyrs’ legacy through democratic and peaceful struggle.

Leaders condemned the brutal killing of Dr. Shahidi on February 7, 1987, and reiterated demands for:

· Justice for all unresolved cases of ethnic and political persecution in Karachi and interior Sindh
· Independent investigations into the killings of Punjabi students, settlers, and activists
· Accountability for perpetrators of targeted violence
· State recognition of martyrs and inclusion in Pakistan’s official history
