New Delhi: During the ongoing tension for the past three days after India attacked Pakistan, not only Indian social media users but also India’s most famous and popular television channels and newspapers are full of fake news about Pakistan.
Pakistani Ministry of Economic Affairs’ appeal for a loan to the world, shooting down of Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jet, videos of the attack on Lahore, Indian Navy’s attack on Karachi port, Indian forces reaching Islamabad, explosion outside Pakistani Prime Minister’s house, detention of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, lockdown and blackout in many cities of Pakistan, many news items continued to be circulated on Indian media, which have no relation to reality.
Zee News, established in 1999, provides news, current affairs, politics, sports and other topics from India and around the world and is considered one of the most popular news channels in India.
Zee News broke a news story on its headlines and later on its website on Friday morning, without citing any source or Pakistani government statement: “After India’s major attack on Pakistan, a complete lockdown was imposed in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot and Pakistan asked its citizens to stay at home and turn off all the lights and blackout.”
