Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that preventing a war between Pakistan and India at the foreign policy level was his great success.
In an interview given to the American channel Fox News, President Trump referred to the recent fighting and said that Pakistan and India are two major nuclear powers and both countries were very angry.
He said that the fighting was entering a very intense phase and more missiles would have been used.
At another point during the interview, President Trump said that a nuclear war between India and Pakistan could have happened or was close to happening, but he stopped it when he talked about trade.
President Trump added ‘We had very good discussions with the leadership of Pakistan, we cannot forget them.’ I also talked about trade with Pakistan and they want to do trade.’
The US President said, ‘Pakistani people are very intelligent people, they make very good products and we don’t do a lot of trade with them but still we have a good relationship with them.’
President Trump said that he has instructed his team to contact Pakistan and move the trade talks forward because they do not back down from their promises.
Talking about India, President Trump said that it is one of the countries in the world where the highest tariffs are imposed on imports and it has become almost impossible to trade with India.
