Delhi: The mission to send the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) new satellite EOS-09 into Earth’s orbit failed on Sunday when a technical glitch occurred in the third stage of the launch.

According to the Associated Press (AP), the EOS-09 satellite was launched from the space center in Sriharikota in southern India on Sunday morning by a PSLV-C61 rocket.

However, ISRO chief V. Narayanan said that ‘during the third stage, the chamber pressure in the rocket’s motor case decreased, due to which the mission could not be completed.’

ISRO is one of the most active space agencies in the world, which has been engaged in space research since the 1960s.

India has so far successfully sent dozens of domestic and foreign satellites into space.

In 2014, India achieved a major global achievement by successfully orbiting its first mission around Mars, after the first attempt to land on the moon in 2019 failed, India made history in 2023 by successfully landing its spacecraft near the moon’s south pole for the first time.
