Tel Aviv: The Israeli government has vented its anger on foreign media for its failure to stop Iran’s missile attacks, threatening to investigate foreign journalists who filmed the missile attacks.

According to a report by the American broadcaster CNN, Israel’s far-right ministers are increasing pressure on foreign media for filming Iran’s missile attacks.

Israeli ministers have threatened that security agencies will investigate these media outlets.

Israeli National Security Minister Itmar Ben-Governor wrote in a letter to the new acting head of the Shin Bet (internal intelligence agency) that “some ‘foreign media outlets’ are violating censorship orders and are committing a serious national security crime by broadcasting live from the sites of missile strikes.”

Ben-Governor said he is calling on the Shin Bet to take steps to “stop this reckless, continuous and dangerous practice of broadcasting missile strikes.”

On the other hand, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has strongly criticized Ben-Governor for targeting foreign media.

It should be noted that foreign journalists working in Israel operate under the country’s censorship laws and are obliged to have their footage and reports censored.

In a joint statement with Ben-Giver, far-right Communications Minister Shlomo Karni said that “foreign media outlets operating in Israel are violating censorship guidelines.”

“These broadcasts often reveal the exact locations of missile strikes, the extent of damage, and sometimes sensitive visual material from the scene,” he said.

It should be noted that contrary to Israel’s expectations, Israel has barred foreign media from covering such locations after Iran’s massive retaliatory strikes damaged Israeli military installations.
