Tehran: The Israeli army has found the bodies of 3 hostages in Gaza.
The Israeli army has found the bodies of three hostages taken hostage by the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas on October 7, 2023, in Gaza.
According to a report by the Times of Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the bodies of three hostages, Ofra Kedar, Jonathan Smirano and Shay Levinson, were recovered during a military and Shin Bet operation in Gaza late last night.
The IDF said that the recovery of the bodies was carried out based on intelligence obtained by the army’s Hostage Headquarters Unit, the Military Intelligence Directorate and the Shin Bet.
Ofra Kedar is 71, Jonathan Smirano is 22 and Shay Levinson is 19. Shay Levinson was a tank commander who was stationed on the Gaza border on the morning of the attack.
The three bodies were flown to Israel for identification at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute, where they were identified by their families.
Israel says 50 civilians are still being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Israeli officials said 20 are believed to be alive and two others are in critical condition.
