Iranian parliament approves bill to suspend cooperation with UN nuclear watchdog

International Reporter Daily Dawn + Dawn TV Report

Tehran: Iran’s state TV reported that the country’s lawmakers voted on Wednesday to suspend cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog (IAEA).

The decision comes after a 12-day war in which Israeli and US airstrikes targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities.

According to the British news agency Reuters, Iranian state TV reported, quoting the speaker of parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, that “the International Atomic Energy Agency, which refused to even slightly condemn the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, has auctioned off its international reputation.”

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that “Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization will suspend its cooperation with the IAEA until the security of nuclear facilities is guaranteed.”

According to the Iranian news agency Noor News, the law, after approval by parliament, is still awaiting final approval by the Supreme National Security Council.

Israel claimed to have attacked several Iranian nuclear facilities on June 13, after which the United States also targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22.
