Riyadh: Portuguese football legend and captain of Saudi Al-Nasr Club Cristiano Ronaldo has praised the prominent role of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the development and transformation of the kingdom, saying that ‘he is doing a great job.’
‘The personality of the Saudi Crown Prince is very important in the development and success of the country. That is why we should appreciate the exemplary work of him and those who work with him.’
In a video message released on the Al-Nasr club’s X-account, Ronaldo said, ‘I am very happy, you should also be proud of your country, you have an exemplary country with a bright future because it is developing rapidly, you do not just talk but also act and that is the most important thing.’
Ronaldo added, ‘I have said this many times before, I am Portuguese but I am from Saudi Arabia.’
Regarding the renewal of his contract with Al-Nasr, he said, ‘Of course, from the first day I arrived here, it was my responsibility to bring about change, not only in Al-Nasr club but also in Saudi Arabia, that is my goal. My goal is always to see Al-Nasr (the club) win. That is why I have extended my contract for another two years.’
The Portuguese star added, ‘My goal is to win the title with Al-Nasr, I am sure that I will become champion in Saudi Arabia with my team. The next season is long. I think I should rest well and prepare well for the coming season, so I should be ready for it, not only for Al-Nasr but also for the Portuguese club.’
‘That’s why I decided to play in the European Championship final and not accept any offer, of course, I will continue with the club I love.’
Ronaldo clarified, ‘The Saudi league is developing, I think it is currently among the top 5 leagues in the world and this journey of development will continue to grow rapidly.’
He said, ‘I love the Saudi people and the wonderful relationship I have with the fans of Al-Nasr is a big reason for renewing the contract.’
Regarding the World Cup 2034, Ronaldo said, ‘I am sure that it will be the most beautiful World Cup in history, hosted by Saudi Arabia.’
