Kabul: Russia said on Thursday that it has accepted the credentials of Afghanistan’s new ambassador, making it the first country to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
According to the British news agency Reuters, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “we believe that the process of officially recognizing the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will promote the development of fruitful bilateral cooperation between our countries in various fields.”
