Washington: The ‘broken relationship’ between Republican President Donald Trump and his main campaign financier, Elon Musk, took a controversial turn on Saturday when the SpaceX and Tesla owner announced the formation of a new political party, saying that Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ tax bill would bankrupt the United States.
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and a former ally of President Donald Trump, announced on Saturday that he is forming a new political party in the United States, which he has named ‘America Party’.
He made this announcement through a post on his social media platform ‘X’.
Elon Musk wrote on X that today, the ‘America Party’ was formed to give you back your freedom.
In the post, Elon Musk referred to a poll conducted on X.
In the same post, Musk said, “By a ratio of two to one, you want a new political party, and you will get it! When it comes to bankrupting the country through waste and corruption, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”
Musk had previously written on X that Independence Day is a perfect opportunity to ask the question: Do you want freedom from a two-party system, which some people consider to be a single party?
Musk had asked in the same post whether we should form an ‘America Party’.
Musk’s announcement of the new party comes after President Donald Trump signed a tax cut and spending bill on Friday that the billionaire Tesla CEO strongly opposed.
This week, President Trump threatened to end billions of dollars in federal subsidies to Musk’s companies.
Remember, Elon Musk spent millions of dollars on Donald Trump’s election campaign and left after working in President Trump’s administration for 129 days.
