Toronto: Canadian photojournalist Valerie Zink has resigned from the British news agency Reuters, saying that the agency is directly involved in the killing of journalists in Gaza by supporting Israeli propaganda.

After eight years at Reuters, Valerie Zink, whose photographs have appeared in the New York Times, Al Jazeera and other media outlets around the world, wrote in a statement on Facebook: “It is now impossible for me to continue my relationship with Reuters because it played a role in legitimizing and enabling the systematic killing of 245 journalists in Gaza.”

“I owe my Palestinian colleagues at least that much, if not more.”

She said that when Israeli forces killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif and his entire team in Gaza City on August 10, Reuters published Israel’s baseless claim that Anas al-Sharif was a member of Hamas.
