UN emergency aid of $600,000 for Pakistan

Geneva: The United Nations has announced an emergency aid of $600,000 for flood victims in Pakistan.

According to the UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric, this amount has been released from the emergency relief fund to provide facilities to the affected people.

Over 400 people have died, about 190 have been injured, and more than 20,000 people have been displaced due to rains and floods in Pakistan over the past ten days.

The victims are in dire need of shelters, medical assistance, cash assistance, hygiene supplies and clean drinking water, with special emphasis on the protection of women and girls.
