London: According to British media, after the restoration of diplomatic relations between India and Canada, the pro-Khalistan organization ‘Sikhs for Justice’ has threatened to lay siege to the Indian consulate in Vancouver.
The pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in the US has announced that it will take control of the consulate on Thursday.
The SFJ has also asked Indian-origin Canadians to postpone their visit to the consulate.
The organization has also released a poster of the recently appointed Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik, in which his face is targeted.
The SFJ alleged in a statement that the Indian consulate is operating a spying and surveillance network targeting Khalistan supporters.
The statement added that “two years ago, on September 18, 2023, (former) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Parliament that the investigation into the murder of Hardeep Singh Najjar included the role of an Indian agent.”
“Two years later, the Indian consulate continues to operate a spying and surveillance network targeting Khalistan referendum campaigners.”
The group alleged that the threat to them was so serious that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police had to provide protection to Inderjit Singh Ghosal, who took over the leadership of the Khalistan referendum campaign after Najjar’s death.
Earlier this month, the Canadian government had said in a report that extremist Khalistani groups were receiving financial support from individuals and networks based in Canada.
These groups include Babur Khalsa International and International SYF. Both groups are listed as terrorist organizations under the Criminal Code of Canada. The report also states that these extremist groups are now operating through small groups that are active in the Khalistan cause without being affiliated with any specific organization.
