IMF imposes strict conditions on sugar; the government also proposes to lift the ban on setting up new sugar mills to please its own

Islamabad: The federal government has taken a principled decision to deregulate the sugar sector in the country to fulfill another condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for which a comprehensive plan has been prepared to deregulate the sugar sector.

According to the proposed plan, the government will not give any subsidy on sugar exports in the future. The government also proposes to lift the ban on setting up new sugar mills in the country to please its own people. It is also proposed to abolish export quotas for sugar mills.
