Ottawa: Canada’s Liberal Party has elected Mark Carney as the new prime minister, replacing Justin Trudeau.
Mark Carney is a former banker and has used very harsh words for the United States and President Trump since his arrival.
He has accused the current US president of attacks on Canadian workers, families and businesses.
Mark Carney, 59, will replace Justin Trudeau in the coming days, but it is being said that his term may not be long.
After being elected, Mark Carney, in his victory speech in Ottawa, warned the United States in clear words and said that it wants to take over Canada through Donald Trump.
He said, “The Americans want to take our resources, our water, our land and our country, and we can no longer trust the country that has imposed these dark days on us.”
Mark Carney has held key positions at the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, and in the vote for prime minister, he defeated Chrystia Freeland by a clear majority, who has also served as deputy prime minister and other key cabinet positions under Justin Trudeau.
Mark Carney received 85.9 percent of the vote, while Chrystia Freeland received only eight percent of the vote.
Mark Carney campaigned on the premise that he would stand against Donald Trump.
Justin Trudeau resigned as prime minister in January and said he wanted to make way for a new leader from the Liberal Party.
Previously, Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister for the first time in the 2015 election and won two more elections after that.
