Washington: In the US, 8,658 complaints of attacks and discrimination against Muslims, especially Palestinians, have been registered in 2024, which is a record.
Last year, incidents of Islamophobia in the US increased by 7.4%.
This disturbing trend has been seen since the Gaza war. Palestinians and those who support Gaza have been targeted.
According to the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the number of complaints of discrimination against Muslims in 2024 is the highest since 1996.
Most of these complaints are about discrimination in offices and other places of employment, followed by immigration and refugees.
Later, complaints of discrimination and hate crimes have been received in the field of education.
There have also been incidents of violence and murder against Muslims in the United States, including the murder of a 6-year-old Palestinian boy, the attempted drowning of a 3-year-old Palestinian girl, the stabbing of a Palestinian man in Texas, the assault on a Muslim man in New York, and the shooting of Israeli tourists in Florida, mistaking them for Palestinians.
In addition, there have been crackdowns on protests in support of Palestine on university campuses, arrests, suspensions, and resignations of university administrators.
