Canada Election; More than 50 Pakistanis also entered the fray

This is the largest number of Pakistani candidates in any Canadian election

Toronto: Canada is going to hold federal elections on April 28, in which candidates of Pakistani origin are also participating in a record number.

The largest number of Pakistani-origin Canadians are contesting the election from the Liberal Party of Canada platform, which is 15.

About 10 Pakistani-origin candidates are also participating in the election on the ticket of a political party called the New Democratic Party.

The leader of another political party, the Centrist Party, is also of Pakistani origin, and most of the candidates contesting the election on the party’s ticket are also from Pakistan.

The daughter of the leader of the Centrist Party, Zainab Rana, is also participating in the election, she is a Grade 12 student and is currently the youngest candidate.

In addition to these three parties, 3 Pakistani candidates, including student Afra Baig, are also contesting the election from the Green Party of Canada.

Similarly, another party, the Communist Party, has fielded a Pakistani-origin candidate, Salman Zafar, and the People’s Party of Canada’s Najeeb Butt.

Along with those contesting the election on party lines, five Pakistani-origin candidates will also contest the election as independents.

It should be noted that five of the Pakistani-origin candidates, Salma Zahid, Iqra Khalid, Shafqat Ali, Yasir Naqvi, and Sameer Zuberi, have been members of parliament.
