‘Punishment for highlighting oppression, an example of revenge and oppression’, UK-based Kashmiri professor’s Indian citizenship revoked

London: The Indian government has revoked the citizenship of UK-based Kashmiri female professor Natasha Cole, which they have termed as ‘punishment’ for speaking against the government’s policies.

She also shared a picture of the notice sent by the government in the post on X.

She wrote, ‘Today, upon reaching home, I received a letter revoking my citizenship as an immigrant, which is an example of revenge and oppression and this punishment has been given for highlighting the anti-minority and undemocratic policies of the Modi government.’

According to the information given on Natasha Cole’s X account, she has done her PhD and her family belongs to the city of Srinagar in Indian-administered Kashmir and she was born in the Gorakhpur area of ​​Uttar Pradesh. She teaches at an educational institution in Westminster.
