London: They will be able to enter the UK only if they have a British passport; they will not be allowed to board a flight, ferry or train.

The announcement comes at a time when several British citizens living or travelling abroad have complained that they are at risk of not being able to enter the UK due to the sudden decision.

According to the new border control rules, anyone coming to the UK after February 25 will be required to obtain a ‘travel permit’, except for those who are British or Irish citizens or who are exempt from this law. Short-term travellers will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, which has been set at £16.

For the first time, dual British nationals will be required to show their British passport when travelling, or they will have to obtain a £589 ‘Certificate of Entitlement’ to travel on their other country’s passport, which many are calling ‘unfair’ and a ‘heavy fine’.
