Srinagar: Police are raiding bookstores after the Indian-administered Kashmir government banned 25 books.
The raids were carried out on Thursday, according to the AFP news agency.
The authorities have cited the books as ‘inciting separatist sentiments’.
The banned books include books by Booker Prize-winning author and human rights activist Arundhati Roy, Kashmiri journalist Anuradha Bhasin and the late Indian jurist A.G. Noorani.
The government has accused the authors of the 25 books of spreading ‘misinformation’ about Kashmir and ‘playing a major role in misleading the youth against India’.
