$3.1 billion to be borrowed from foreign commercial banks during the fiscal year 2025-2026, report

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to borrow $3.1 billion from foreign commercial banks during the current fiscal year 2025-2026.
According to Ministry of Economic Affairs officials, $6.4 billion will be borrowed for project financing, while the government had borrowed $700 million in July last year.
In addition, $498.3 million was obtained under bilateral agreements and multilateral agreements, while $196.2 million worth of Naya Pakistan Certificates were issued last month.
The government has decided to issue bonds worth only $400 million in the current fiscal year. According to officials, $100 million was received under the Saudi Oil Facility in July, while $1 billion will be received under the Saudi Oil Facility in the current fiscal year.
According to officials, external funding has increased by about $260 million on an annual basis in July 2025.
