California: US immigration authorities detained British analyst Sami Hamdi during a speaking tour. His visa was canceled, and he is likely to be deported.
According to a Homeland Security spokesperson, “Under President Trump, individuals who support terrorism or pose a threat to national security will not be allowed to work or travel in the United States.”
Sami Hamdi had delivered an anti-Israel speech at an event organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in California, after which he was detained at the San Francisco airport.
CAIR has called Hamdi’s arrest a violation of freedom of expression and demanded his immediate release. The organization says he was arrested for criticizing Israeli policies.
