PAKPATTAN/Arifwala: Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafique has said that, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, practical steps are being taken rapidly under the Shatra Punjab Program to create a clean, green and beautiful Punjab. An integrated strategy is being implemented to improve the sanitation system in urban and rural areas, eliminate encroachments, effectively manage drainage and provide public facilities. He expressed these views while chairing a review meeting of the overall performance of the District Council, Municipal Committee, Local Government and Shatra Punjab Program at the AC Office, Arifwala. Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail, Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza, and Assistant Commissioner Arif Wala were also present in the meeting. They said that modern machinery, additional staff and an effective monitoring system have been introduced to improve the standard of cleanliness across the district, while indiscriminate operations are being carried out daily to eliminate encroachments. Provincial Minister Zeeshan Rafique appreciated the performance of Commissioner Sahiwal Dr. Asif Tufail, Deputy Commissioner and other officers and said that public welfare, provision of basic facilities and strengthening of the local government system are among the top priorities of the Punjab government. He directed that work should continue with mutual coordination, transparency and continuity to achieve all the goals of the Clean Punjab Program. He said that the projects of removing encroachments and cleaning are for the convenience of the public, so full cooperation should be provided to the urban administration. The Punjab government is utilizing all available resources to provide a clean, peaceful and prosperous environment to the people so that the province of Punjab can become a truly developed, organized and exemplary province.
