Washington: President Trump has shared a photo on his social media account, Truth Social, saying that Nicolas Maduro is on the USS Iwo Jima. Trump has said that the United States is going to run Venezuela until a safe, orderly, and just transition of power is possible there.
The USS Iwo Jima is the same warship that Trump told Fox News that is taking the Venezuelan President to the United States. In the released photo, Maduro is seen wearing a mask over his eyes, headphones in his ears, and a gray tracksuit.

According to the American broadcaster CBS, the US military plane carrying Maduro is expected to land soon at Stewart Airport in the Hudson Valley area of ​​Orange County, New York.
Donald Trump has claimed that US forces have brought Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to justice by storming a heavily fortified military compound in the heart of Caracas. He said that the attack neutralized all of Venezuela’s military capabilities and that the US used its expertise to shut down the country’s electricity supply during the operation in Caracas. Trump also said that by arresting and transferring Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to the US, Washington will be very involved not only in the future of the country but also in the oil industry of oil-rich Venezuela. In a telephone interview with Fox News, Trump said, “We cannot risk someone else coming in and taking over everything that he (Maduro) has left or where he left off.”

According to Trump, Maduro and his wife have been indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of running a deadly drug-based terrorism campaign and will now face US justice. Sources say that President Maduro is currently in US military custody and will be handed over to federal authorities after landing. Maduro is expected to be arraigned in New York’s Federal Court, Southern District, next week. US Attorney General Pam Bondi has said that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife are facing drug-related charges and will soon face the full wrath of US justice on US soil. Pam Bondi wrote on X that Maduro has been charged with conspiracy to commit drug-based terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and weapons of mass destruction against the United States. According to her, the indictment was filed in New York.
US Secretary of State Rubio accused Maduro of being the head of the Cartel de Los Solís, which he described as a terrorist drug trafficking organization. He added that Maduro is already facing charges of drug trafficking in the United States. Maduro was captured in a heavily fortified fortress and no US troops were killed in the operation. The US president said that some people were injured but that they had recovered and were in good condition.
