London: The history of US attacks on Latin American countries is quite long
The latest US military operation in Venezuela during the Trump era is being seen in the context of a long and bloody history of intervention in Latin America.
Several Latin American countries have been victims before, especially during the Cold War, when Washington took every military action in the name of stopping the spread of communism.
The purpose of these military operations and attacks was for the US to protect its political and economic interests. For which it considered the following countries a threat.
Guatemala 1954
In 1954, the US intelligence agency CIA supported a coup against the elected President Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán in Guatemala.
President Árbenz had introduced agricultural reforms that were hurting the interests of American companies.
After this US-backed coup, Guatemala suffered from instability and military rule for decades.
Cuba 1959–1961
In 1959, Fidel Castro overthrew dictator Fulgencio Batista, after which the US began efforts to remove the Castro government.
The culmination of this US intervention was the failed invasion of Cuba by the CIA-backed military party in 1961, which resulted in a defeat for the US.
Brazil 1964
In Brazil, the US supported anti-communist forces and pro-American politicians, which resulted in the removal of President João Goulart and the establishment of a military government in 1964.

Dominican Republic 1965
In 1965, the United States intervened militarily to prevent the return of leftist President Juan Bush.
The United States interpreted this move as a threat of a second Cuba and helped establish a pro-American government.
Ecuador 1961–1963
During this period, US-backed and anti-communist activities caused a political crisis in Ecuador that paved the way for a military coup.
