Dhaka: The Indian aviation industry is in a constant state of decline.
According to the Bangladeshi newspaper “Daily Sun” and the Indian newspaper “The Economic Times”, Bangladesh has stopped Indian private airline SpiceJet from using its airspace over non-payment of dues.
Flights from Kolkata to northeastern Indian cities, such as Guwahati and Imphal, are often forced to take longer and alternate routes.
Due to the alternate routes, the flight duration and fuel consumption have increased, which may result in higher operational costs for the airline.
SpiceJet has been facing financial difficulties for the past few months, the company’s shares have also seen a slight decline, while the airline reported a loss of Rs 269.27 crore in its quarterly financial report ending December 2025.
According to experts, relations between Bangladesh and India have evolved from diplomatic differences to conflicts.
